About me

I have a background in customer services/sales having worked variously in the family hotel, organised telesales and distribution for a small brewery & pub-chain, been a servicing garage receptionist/administrator and sold promotional/theming fibre-glass models. While in my last job I painted 6 themed showrooms in which to display stock models; which lead to work for other local businesses. I’ve also done scenery painting for our local panto group and produced signs and painted panels for decorating interior spaces.

I attended art college at UWE – Bristol gaining a degree in 3d design (Ceramics); this taught me to work to a brief and within time limits. I am largely self-taught as a large-scale theming painter having been allowed by employer/friends to ‘just do something creative’; this period of experimentation with materials and technique has given me confidence and experience to go forward into charging for my work.

My life revolves around children and other animals.. at home we have horses and dogs. My interests are rural and rooted into the Dartmoor landscape from which I draw my inspiration. I’m a practical person interested in science and history; I don’t see myself as an ‘arty’ artist. I’m probably one of the few people who have initially failed to get into Art College; I succeeded at my second attempt and was told by my tutors that I couldn’t paint… I think 25 years on I’m proving them wrong.
